SONVANGER (liriek) – Valiant Swart
English summary
The narrator appeals to a sun reflector to reflect the sunlight into his house. The house used to be cheerful and full of laughter. Now it has become cold and dark. The laughter is gone, the music has stopped and the narrator wants to put it back into his home. He appeals to the sun reflector to catch the sun because there is a place in the house where they can hang it. If the sun reflector brings the sun back, it can shine into the dark corners of the passage. At the moment, winter is cold and wet and this weather makes him feel sad and miserable.
The narrator later begs the reflector to bring the sun back to him, because he cannot understand how the sun could have disappeared and not return. If the sun reflector steals the sun back, they can put him in the garden where he can play and make everyone happy. The light of the sun will make the speaker's dark path visible; it will illuminate his heart and make the darkness disappear.
